What to Expect from the CrossFit Open

What is the Open?

The CrossFit Open is the first stage of the CrossFit Games.  One workout will be released each week for 3 weeks.  Athletes are divided into divisions based on age and fitness level.  Based on results on the workouts compared to the worldwide leaderboard athletes can advance to Quarterfinals or Age Group Qualifiers.

Why should I do it?

The Open is a super fun experience where athletes are given the opportunity to test themselves and push to new heights.  For coaches and athletes alike, this is a unique annual experience that brings our community closer together with a common goal of crushing the Open workouts.  Also, there will be a True Core Open splitting athletes into teams and adjusting scoring, so everyone has a chance to earn points for their team.

What are the workouts like?

The workouts are very similar to the workouts that we do in class and personal training sessions.  Typically, workouts will be 5-20 minutes with a combination of 2-5 movements.  For Time and AMRAP style workouts are the most common formats.  Some of the workouts can be completed by almost all athletes as prescribed while others require a high level of fitness so movements and loading will be adjusted as needed for our athletes.  An example workout from 2019 was AMRAP 15 of 19 Calorie Row and 19 Wall Balls.

How do I sign up?

When does it start?
